Requisition Number 19-0125 Post Date 7/3/2019 Title Customer Advisor City Glen Burnie State MD DescriptionUnited Bank's Marine Lending division, LH Finance, is seeking a Customer Advisor to join our growing team in Glen Burnie, MD. The Customer Advisor develops new and profitable retail marine loan business opportunities for LH-Finance and, in the process, encourages

customers to broaden their business, deposit, product, and service relationships with United Bank.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of the POSITION:


  • Responsible for generating leads, sales and business volume
  • Expands business relationships and industry contacts; develops and pursues network for leads for new business; identifies prospects

  • Evaluates and applies established underwriting standards to requests for loans

  • Prepares/reviews documentation, analyzes financial statements, conducts credit analyses to determine level of risk and recommendations for approval

  • Submits loan packets for review and approval by retail credit team
  • Develops sales strategies to promote and sell finance products. Develops and coordinates sales selling cycle and methodology.

  • Maintains communication and strong relationships with customers to ensure issues resolved in a timely manner

  • Participates as a productive and positive team member for the good of LH-Finance



    OTHER FUNCTIONS OF THE POSTION:

    Observes all loan, credit and administration policies and guidelines pertaining to LH-Finance's objectives for acceptable loans. Ensures adherence to regulatory matters.

    Keeps informed of developments, trends, regulations, and compliance matters pertaining to retail lending and makes sure that lending and retail personnel are informed of any policy and/or procedural changes on a timely basis.

    Maintains community involvement, reinforcing knowledge and respect for United Bank through participation in industry organizations and events. Ensures a positive public perception of LH-Finance. All employees are subject to the requirements of the United

    Bank BSA Program. An employee's role with United Bank determines which parts of the program apply. However, all employees are responsible for reporting suspicious activity identified in the course of their work, and all employees are responsible for the

    timely completion of mandatory compliance training assigned, such as BSA and OFAC.
    The above duties may not be all-inclusive. The incumbent may be asked or required to perform other work as time and abilities allow.
    DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS of the POSITION:

    Judgment: Work is performed under the general supervision of the Senior Vice President and in accordance and compliance with Bank credit policies established by the Board and governmental regulations, requiring considerable judgment and

    initiative in participating in the development and maintenance of the LH-Finance retail portfolio.

    Complexity: Work involves a variety of responsibilities, including generating leads and sales of profitable new business as well as community involvement, requiring interpretation of the Bank's policies and alertness to compliance issues

    and their application in lending functions.

    Impact of Errors: Errors of judgment may be difficult to detect and may result in expense, financial loss, and damage to the Bank through poor lending decisions, failure to achieve established goals, and inappropriate or inadequate application

    of compliance measures, all of which could have an adverse effect on the Bank's profitability and service to customers.

    Interpersonal Relationships: Strong interpersonal skills required; work involves frequent contacts with potential and existing loan customers and with the public, within the Bank, in the community, and in the marine industry, as well

    as with attorneys and accountants, requiring initiative, discretion, diplomacy, discretion, and negotiating skills.

    QUALIFICATIONS for the POSITION:

    Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business/Accounting/Finance or equivalent industry and sales experience.

    Experience: At least 5 years' progressive experience in a lending environment.

    Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Thorough knowledge of retail lending policies, procedures, regulations, and compliance issues. Knowledge and familiarity with retail marine lending required. Considerable knowledge of banking operations,

    products, and services required. Computer literacy with good understanding of loan-related software required. Facility with figures and an analytical mind with the ability to make accurate evaluations and sound lending recommendations. A thorough understanding

    of financial statements and credit analyses required. Articulate, tactful, and discreet in representing LH-Finance to the public and to existing and prospective customers. Skill in negotiating loan terms and conditions. Articulate in reading and writing

    skills and in speaking clearly in English.

    Physical Requirements: Mobility to travel to dealer locations and boat shows. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
