Rowe Price is seeking a Senior Institutional Business Development Executive to be a key member of its dedicated insurance coverage group. This is a newly created role and will be a part of a 2-person team responsible for proactively developing new clients and expanding relationships within the insurance sector across Property & Casualty, Life & Health, Multi-line and Reinsurance companies. T. Rowe Price has met with meaningful success serving the needs of insurance clients and this channel remains an important area of growth for the firm going forward. Reporting to the Head of US Institutional Business Development, Doug Greenstein, the Senior Institutional Business Development Executive will be responsible for increasing the visibility broadly within the Insurance General Account segment and growing assets under management across the firms full suite of strategies and capabilities; including all traditional asset classes, as well as multi-asset strategies. Market dynamics indicate there will likely be continued allocations to specialized fixed income strategies and solutions. T. A strong institutional sales effort in the United States provides the foundation for the firms future growth in the institutional, defined contribution and multi-asset business lines. It will be crucial that the Institutional Business Development Executive work in close coordination with colleagues on the sales, client service, consultant relations, DC Specialist and US Intermediary teams to deploy a cohesive and coordinated strategy for developing new clients and exceeding client expectations through superior relationship management. To effectively engage sophisticated investors and represent T. Rowe Prices platform, the sales and relationship management team employs a consultative approach to working with prospects and clients. This approach keeps the respective investment challenges and objectives of prospects at the core and tailors messaging and recommendations accordingly. This person will also help educate and communicate information about strategies and nuances of the Insurance General Account market to internal constituents across the T. Rowe Price organization. RESPONSIBILITIES - Manage the sales process to grow institutional AUM within the insurance sector for T. Rowe Price by identifying and cultivating new business prospects, initiating and following up on new business opportunities, leading new business meetings and associated strategy development/preparation and closing sales. - Understand and effectively communicate complex investment capabilities and strategies to prospective insurance clients in a clear and simple fashion, in both verbal and written form. - Work with the consultant relations group to develop and maintain relationships with investment consultants, as it relates to the insurance General Account segment. - Provide guidance to support staff to ensure that the information needs of insurance prospects, consultants and clients are met. - Maintain strong knowledge of T. Rowe Prices investment strategies and solutions and how to effectively implement within the insurance segment. - Participate on cross-functional project teams to assist with go-to-market strategy, product positioning, new product development, etc. - Provide important market feedback to senior management and identify and prioritize key product development for medium and long-term growth. - Active participant in the development and execution of the insurance General Account 3 & 5 year business plan (currently in development). - Be a thought leader and champion of the insurance General Account segment within the firm. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS - Ten or more years of directly related sales experience, specifically within the insurance channel, with a solid understanding of both the issues within this segment and industry trends more generally. - Extensive and current contacts with insurance companies in the U.S. and Bermuda, complete with a demonstrated track record of success. - Fluency with asset/liability and risk budgeting frameworks used by insurance companies in determining their overall asset allocation. - Deep understanding of the underlying actuarial, accounting and regulatory issues that drive investment management decision-making. - Must have a demonstrated track record of success raising assets with Insurance clients across the US and ideally globally. - Stature and experience required to cover the largest and most complex prospects and accounts and engage in solutions-oriented discussions. - Must have a comprehensive understanding of financial investment products and relationship management strategies. - Superior communication and presentation skills in order to effectively position T. Rowe Price to sophisticated insurance clients/prospects. - Deep knowledge of the unique investment objectives and buying behaviors across the insurance segment, coupled with a proven ability to effectively position and showcase varied products and solutions to help clients reach their investment objectives. - Strategic orientation with the ability to employ a problem-solving oriented approach in both external and internal interactions. - Solid understanding of the marketing and operational elements of client, consultant and prospect interaction. - Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills, with a considerable understanding of how to achieve targeted levels of client intimacy. - Collegial and teaming orientation with the ability to thrive in cross-functional, cross-business unit team settings. - High level of accountability, drive and integrity with a reputation of being a collaborative team player. - Bachelors degree with advanced degree and/or CFA preferred - Strong industry reputation in the Insurance General Account segment.
