Location: 4940 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21224
Shift:
Full Time (40 hours)
Day Shift, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Non-Exempt
Position Summary:
Wide range of secretarial and office support duties. Works with
minimal supervision. Requires basic grammar, spelling and
punctuation. Ability to type and transcribe dictation, manuscripts,
routine office correspondence and medical reports with speed and
accuracy. Scheduling of patients for appointments, surgical
procedures, preoperative and postoperative appointments, capable of
screening inquires with tack, courtesy and good judgment. Maintain
appointment schedule both clinical and administrative.
II. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assists in formatting and preparation of manuscripts, grant
proposals, statistical reports, tables and charts using knowledge
of scientific, medical, literary or other technical terms.
2. Organizes a filing system in the office of personal manuscripts,
articles, chapters and patient charts for each physician within
their office that is clearly marked and easily accessible and meets
the needs of the physician.
3. Routinely obtains pertinent clinical information from a variety
of sources as requested from the physician.
4. Assists physician with preparation, materials, posters,
correspondence, for conferences, seminars and meetings.
5. Maintains patient confidentiality and uses discretion in
handling confidential information with no variances.
6. Arrange appointments for clinic visits.
7. Ability to handle requests from primary physicians to schedule
emergent visits/diagnostic studies.
8. Performs a variety of general office support duties and special
projects necessary for efficient office operations.
Education:
Work requires a high school level of educational development and up
to one year of basic technical training in secretarial/office
management and one year of previous experience.
Knowledge/Skills:
Work requires the analytical skills to gather and interpret data in
situations in which the information or problems are relatively
routine.
Work requires the ability to exchange information on factual
matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain medical
center policies, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel.
This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing
with patients, visitors and/or medical center employees.
