MedStar Health, a leading not-for-profit healthcare organization in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region, is seeking a dedicated Coding Specialist II to enhance our patient-first healthcare services. This role involves detailed work with medical coding systems to ensure accurate billing and record-keeping. The Coding Specialist II will be integral in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and contributing to the efficiency of medical services through precise coding and documentation. The ideal candidate will be a meticulous professional with a strong background in medical coding and a solid understanding of healthcare operations. Apply ICD-10-CM and CPT codes to patient records based on clinical documentation Work closely with healthcare providers to clarify information and ensure accurate coding Review and audit clinical documents and coding to ensure compliance with federal regulations and insurance requirements Participate in coding department meetings and provide input on coding practices and policies Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements Ensure the confidentiality and security of patient records Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information Working knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare operations Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the AAPC Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) by AHIMA preferred
