Programs Instructor - Social Justice_** who will support
academically talented students enrolled in the Johns Hopkins Center
for Talented Youth (CTY) online Social Justice courses.**Specific
Duties & Responsibilities:**+ Develop and teach lessons within
curriculum defined by CTY.+ Must be able to teach live session over
zoom.+ Monitor student progress and assist students in
accomplishing established learning objectives.Interact
independently with students using distance education technologies,
primarily Moodle, Zoom, phone, and e-mail.+ Provide timely feedback
and encouragement to students and their parents on coursework and
progress.+ Manage student behavior and discipline in the online
classroom.+ Communicate with students, parents, IT, program
administrators and supervisor to resolve any course related
issues.+ Report concerns with students, courseware, or systems to
supervisor.+ Suggest improvements to course design and contents.+
Submit hours worked via established system according to schedule

or without notice._**Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):**+
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university in Social
Justice, History, Sociology, or a related discipline.+ At least two
years of teaching or tutoring experience is required.+ Experience
teaching social justice courses/content to high school or college
students.+ Understanding of, and sensitivity to the diverse
academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious and cultural
backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of students,
parents, and staff**Preferred Qualifications:**+ Master's Degree in
Ethnic Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Justice Studies,
Sociology, or English, AND upper division or graduate course work
in at least one other constituent discipline as previously listed
is preferred.+ At least two years of teaching or tutoring
experience working specifically with middle or high school
students.+ Experience teaching or tutoring Online.**Technical
Qualifications/Specialized Certifications:**+ Experience with
web-based course management tools (especially Moodle) and online
conferencing software (such as Zoom).+ Experience with Microsoft
Office 365 apps and Teams.+ Must have a computer with broadband
Internet access.**Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:**+
Advanced knowledge of history, sociology of race, and/or social
justice. Knowledge of teaching courses such as:+ Social media and
social justice+ Race matters+ Diverse voices in science+ The color
of law+ Positive, proactive, and professional written, spoken, and
interpersonal communication skills using various technology is
critical.+ Must be very student-oriented.+ Ability to prepare
lesson plans and audio-visual aids per the agreed-upon course
syllabus.+ Experience working with students from diverse
backgrounds.+ Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.+
Maturity, responsibility, and creativity.+ Experienced in having
discussions in a classroom setting about potentially sensitive
topics.**Physical Requirements:**+ Ability to access and transmit
information using a computer+ Dexterity of hands to operate a
computer keyboard, mouse pad and other office machinery+ The
incumbent will be required to communicate regularly via telephone,
Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and email with internal and external
audiences and must be able to exchange accurate and timely
information in these settings+ Work hours vary and are flexible;
including weekends and evenings as determined with

Action:**+ Significant degree of independent action.**Supervision**
:+ Instructors are supervised by a full-time or casual CTY staff
