Environmental Working Group (EWG) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization dedicated to protecting human health and the
environment. Our mission is to empower people to live healthier
lives in a healthier environment. We educate the public and
advocate for strong policies that protect our environment and
health. Program Overview: EWG’s high school leadership program,
EWGHS, was designed to educate and empower high school students on
critical environmental health issues. The program equips students
with EWG’s science,research, and tools, empowering them to make
informed health and environmental decisions and lead as
environmental health advocates in their communities and beyond The
program also provides teachers with educational modules to
integrate environmental health topics into their classrooms.
Position Summary: This internship will support the development of
engaging, science-based educational materials and advocacy
resources for high school students participating in EWG’s student
leadership initiatives. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented,
creative, and mission-driven individual interested in environmental
health, education, and youth engagement. The intern will work
closely with EWG program and policy staff to translate EWG’s
research and advocacy priorities into accessible, age-appropriate
tools that empower students to learn, lead, and take action. Key
Responsibilities: Create and curate educational materials and
resources for students and teachers including lesson plans,
toolkits, and advocacy guides. Develop digital and print resources
to support student learning and involvement Design and coordinate
resources for educators to integrate environmental health topics
into their curricula. Support system creation for training and
support for teachers on using EWG tools and resources in the
classroom. Gather feedback from teachers and students to
continuously improve educational content and delivery.
Qualifications: Strong interest in environmental health, public
policy, education, sustainability, or a related field Excellent
written communication skills, with the ability to adapt content for
a high school audience Strong organizational skills and attention
to detail Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
independently Comfort working collaboratively across teams in a
mission-driven organization Location: Washington, D.C. Type:

Philanthropy, Development Compensation and Benefits: $20 per hour
