Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Operations Engineering organization is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Manufacturing Process Engineer to support the Autoline Operations areas for the Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) cell. This position will include a focus on the automated optical inspection of CCA assemblies. The successful candidate will need to maintain current processes already in place while also collaborating on the process development of new optical inspection techniques for microelectronics.This position is located in Linthicum, Maryland.The Manufacturing Process Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below:Process Development
    • Developing new and maintaining or improving existing manufacturing processes with a focus on quality
    • Development of methods for process monitoring using existing and new interfaces
    • Working in cross functional teams to develop new data, software, and database applications to support current and future manufacturing needs
    • Providing ROI justification for process improvements
    • Specifying, identifying and procuring new manufacturing equipment for production readiness and preparing equipment for production with a focus on the machine integration and data collection
    • Developing and optimizing process parameters including those involving process control plans for CCA automated optical/x-ray inspection (2D/3D AOI systems and/or AXI)
    • Developing/revising process documentation and work instructionsFactory Support
      • Assist the floor in optimization of process monitoring for process yields, cost, and process stability and capability
      • Recommending and implementing quality improvements based on the above metrics
      • Creating, validating and maintaining automatic equipment programs
      • Assisting with the training of new personnel and participating in the design of operator training materials
      • Supporting factory maintenance personnel with the troubleshooting and repair of process equipment
      • Interfacing with equipment vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issuesDesign Support
        • Recommending product design improvements required to produce advanced microelectronics products
        • Documenting state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designers
        • Participating in design producibility reviews for new productsThis requisition may be filled as Principal Manufacturing Engineer or a Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer, based on the qualifications below.Candidates who prefer 2nd shift will also be considered.MANUMSBasic Qualifications for Principal Manufacturing Process Engineer:
          • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area
          • 5 years of relevant professional experience (or 3 years with an MS)
          • Hands on manufacturing experience
          • Familiarity with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma concepts for process development
          • Experience with 2D/3D AOI (automated optical inspection) processes including machine programming and/or experience with AXI (automated x-ray inspection) processes including machine programming
          • Fluency in MS Office software applications
          • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship is required.)Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Manufacturing Process Engineer:
            • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area
            • 9 years of relevant professional experience (or 7 years with an MS)
            • Hands on manufacturing experience
            • Familiarity with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma concepts for process development
            • Experience with 2D/3D AOI (automated optical inspection) processes including machine programming and/or experience with AXI (automated x-ray inspection) processes including machine programming
            • Fluency in MS Office software applications
            • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship is required.)Preferred Qualifications:
              • Experience with Lean Six Sigma
              • Experience with Yestech, Viscom, or Parmi optical inspection/x-ray equipment
              • Experience developing/programming new optical inspection methods for the inspection of PWB/PCB, CCAs, or other microelectronics
              • Knowledge of microelectronics technology, assembly, and materials
              • Familiarity with J-STD and MIL-STD requirements and Space Class hardware requirementsSalary Range: 87780 - 131670Salary Range 2: 108864 - 163296Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
