OverviewGraham Packaging is currently seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to work in our capital development department. Successful candidate will have prior experience with electromechanical systems development, validation and commissioning. Individual will be designing and overseeing the construction of plastic container processing assemblies at our technical center or certified suppliers. Will also support and provide mechanical engineering guidance to operations in root cause and corrective action efforts. Approximately 25% travel will be required to our facilities and suppliers for commissioning and startup activities of systems manufactured.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all activities supporting machinery builds and projects
  • Defines and assists technical manufacturing projects including assessment of requirements, alignment of specifications with stakeholders, and measuring performance of mechanical systems
  • Oversight of supplier delivered performance requirements from design thru validation
  • Evaluation of mechanical systems capabilities by designing and validating testing methods
  • Promotes standardization in equipment configuration, training, auditing, troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Ownership and administration of engineering documents and drawing revision management for the enterprise
  • Responsible to support implementing engineering advisories & change bulletins
  • Provides on-site and remote technical assistance for mechanical systems and machinery
  • Listens and evaluates cross functional feedback for implementation of CI opportunities
  • Facilitates and leads development of technical innovations working cross functionally leading or supporting teams
  • Details and modifies equipment part drawings and assembly drawings using 3D modeling software
  • Support and administrate emulation software to aid in the design and development of Graham systems
    Core Proficiencies and Skills
    • Functional requirements analysis
    • Experience designing and testing mechanical systems
    • Experience outlining requirements and performance criteria of suppliers
    • Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and structural design
    • Knowledge and understanding of geometric dimensioning, tolerance and stack up analysis
    • Strong technical writing skills
    • Strong project management skills
    • Proficient with 3D modeling software

    • Education And/or Work Experience Requirements
      • Engineering Associates Degree minimum, BS preferred
      • 5+ years' experience in industrial manufacturing
      • Ideal candidate will have experience in the plastics industry
        Supervisory Duties Limited to task management for coordinating fabrication activities and ensuring adherence to assembly procedures.
