We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer II that will uphold our core values of integrity, respect, safety, and quality just to name a few.

A Design Engineer II designs battery components and tooling for automotive battery production equipment as assigned from the department Manager/Director. A Design Engineer II leads and manages projects/project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Engineering support to Manufacturing, Quality, H&S, Sales, Costing, and Maintenance on Automotive products, equipment, and tooling.
  • Prepare and deliver information, technical reports, and presentations to management, customers, vendors, and technical partners.
  • Generate concepts and present a plan in the form of a project charter to management.
  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Perform other duties which may become essential to the position.
  • Lead regular technical reviews throughout all phases of a project.
  • Support production and engineering at all levels.
  • Track and record time spent on tasks and projects.
  • Travel worldwide for the company as required (approximately 5 days per year)
  • Attend industry related technical conferences, seminars, and/or trade shows.
  • Participate, lead, and maintain FMEA documents.
  • Develop and maintain production specifications.
  • Work directly with material suppliers, equipment and tooling manufacturers.
  • Responsible for ordering/purchasing tooling from vendors, including EPM's Central Services.
  • Interface with customers to design new products and support existing products.
  • Will be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical equipment and tooling.
  • Perform calculations and tests on products, equipment, and tooling as directed by a senior engineer.
  • Apply knowledge of mechanical engineering principles to design products such as tooling, robots, machines, measuring devices, etc.
  • Contribute to bringing products from idea to proof of concept, through to the final, manufactural product.
  • Uses computer-aided design software and/or graphic tools to update drawings, design simple and complex tooling, and design mechanical machines or mechanisms.
  • Design, develop, integrate, and test all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and instrumentation.

    Qualifications

    Experience & Qualifications
  • Typically, with more than 3-5 years of Engineering experience in Design Engineering
  • Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering Discipline preferred.
  • Experience with the battery construction process preferred. Education/Certification
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering or scientific discipline.
    • Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline preferred. Skills & Competencies
