The key element of ABDR is the Asset, an onsite power system, which NRG will own, operate and maintain. NRG will run the Asset for demand response and at other times as determined by our energy optimization staff. The end result is a product that can save the customer money on their energy costs, and can provide the customer reliability. Our current product focus for ABDR is natural gas and diesel reciprocating engines, and in some areas, battery storage systems.Work LocationThis position will work remotely from home#SF-IND#LI-KWDuties & ResponsibilitiesDevelop a strong pipeline of prospects from an existing and expanding professional network in the commercial, industrial and government sectors in order to promote Asset Backed Demand Response product awareness.Follow up on prospect leads as assigned from cross selling, channel partners, and strategic partnersGather pertinent electrical load and utility information from customerDevelop initial, conceptual design of onsite power generation and/or battery storage systemWork with execution team on initial project cost estimatesWork with internal financial analysts and execution team to develop indicative and final proposalsPresent proposals to customers and answer technical and financial questionsMaintain, update and communicate sales pipeline statusSupport and emphasize the importance of safety, as well as regulatory and environmental complianceCompetenciesSeeks and understands the customer's needs and focuses on meeting and exceeding their expectationsAnticipates and accepts changes in the organization and adapts to meet the new requirementsCommitted to making the workplace safe and environmentally soundWilling to accept accountability for own decisions, performance, and behaviorEnsures company resources are used in a cost effective mannerMinimum RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED equivalentMinimum of 5 years of recent and relevant technical sales experience with onsite generator systems and/or switchgearMust have a valid driver's licenseMust have a valid PassportMust have working knowledge of demand response programs and utility rate tariffsMust have previous experience with contract development and negotiationsMust have working knowledge of financial modeling and analysisMust be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and OutlookMust be willing travel frequently to meetings and job sites in order to evaluate new potential projects (25%-50%)If not currently in North-East U.S, must be willing to relocate, as the majority of projects will occur in this regionPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree5 or more years of recent and relevant technical sales experience with onsite generator systems and/or switchgearAdditional Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of natural gas and diesel generator sets, multiple engine paralleling, and broad experience with generator set installations including electrical, mechanical, environmental, and civil requirementsKnowledge of automatic transfer switches and paralleling switchgearWorking knowledge of battery storage systems and invertersAbility to perform economic analysisDemonstrated analytical, problem-solving skillsAbility to perform field inspections and take field measurementsKnowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulationsAbility to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings and specificationsAbility to use PC and associated software applications to collect and analyze data and produce spreadsheets, databases, and reportsAbility to effectively communicate technical concepts (verbal and written)Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individualsAbility to understand the processes, systems, assets, resources, key personnel, and business functions of the companyAbility to read, create and follow written policies and proceduresAbility to proficiently speak, read, write and understand EnglishWorking Conditions:Normal office environment and/or out-of-doors work environment. (Including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations)Requires frequent travel to sales meetings, internal meetings and to job sites to evaluate new potential projects.Requires a valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicleRequires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect or collect data on plant equipmentAbility to work overtime and non-standard hours as requiredOccasionally requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicalsRequires operation of a personal computerOccasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilitiesNRG Energy is committed to a drug and alcohol free workplace.
