Responsible for managing the Salesforce.com software engineering team that supports production systems and develop new software solutions on the platform. Must have the ability to organize personnel under supervision into multiple DevOps teams that work in parallel. An example organization is one of 5-10 employees and consultants organized into 4 - 8 development teams. Directs the ongoing development and growth of the software engineering staff, including designating and grooming technical leads that can perform the first level of technical management responsibilities.


Process

Works closely with Project Managers / SCRUM Masters, to lead the architecture and SDLC of software engineering projects. Strong expertise and conviction with Agile Processes required. Assisted by first level technical leads, responsible for conceptualization, requirements, design, development, testing, documentation, and implementation of practical solutions. Able to analyze alternatives and recommend contracted, 3rd-party or custom programming solutions that meet the company's overall business goals and objectives. Also responsible for third-tier support (engineering support) for the portfolio of applications based on lightweight ITL-style processes. Work with the Vice President of Software Engineering, Senior Director of Salesforce Operations, and other responsible parties to renewal contracts related to our Salesforce platform including: Salesforce.com, Heroku, as well as any other third-party tools used on/for the platform (ex. Docusign, Conga, FormAssembly, etc.).


Technology

This is a technical management position that requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, at least six (6) years progressively responsible experience with architecture, design patterns, database structures, structured code techniques, etc. Excellent communication skills and a "can do" attitude are strong requirements. Software assets under responsibility include systems worth multi-million dollars and typically service hundreds of internal users and thousands of external investors and partners.Job DescriptionHands on experience required in technologies that the position is responsible for including:

  • Mastery of the declarative capabilities of Salesforce, including security controls (profiles, permission sets, public groups, queues, sharing settings), process automation tools (workflows, flows, process builder, approval processes), and business application development (custom objects, custom fields, page layouts, record types, apps, tabs)
  • Strong reporting background using standard Salesforce reporting functionality and custom report types
  • Experience with 3rd party apps a plus (such as DemandTools, Conga Composer, Conga Conductor, DocuSign, FinancialForce PSA, FinancialForce HCM, and FormAssembly)
  • Contract renewal experience preferable, but not required
  • Administration of Salesforce applications on the Lightning Experience
  • Formal certifications like Salesforce Certified Administrator, Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, etc. are preferable, but not required
  • Understanding of when to employ declarative or custom development (Apex, Visualforce, etc.)
  • Experience with Salesforce development in a multi-tiered release environment, including hands-on configuration and release management experience
  • Experience working with offshore and remote teams a plus, but not required
  • Detail-oriented and self-starter with strong written verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Team player with positive "can-do" attitude
