quality is unwavering.Job Summary: Under the general direction of
the Senior VP of Operations, this position will plan, direct and
manage the operations and production support functions, maintaining
the highest level of customer satisfaction while achieving the
Company's profit and business growth objectives. Supervisory
Responsibilities:Provides direction and manages production
personnel including direct management of: Scheduling/Pre-Press
Manager, Pressroom Manager, Material Handling Manager, Bindery
Manager, Maintenance Manager.Interviews, hires, and trains
supervisory and management staff.Sets expectations and manages
performance.Provides appropriate recognition and builds employee
engagement.Provides constructive and timely performance feedback
and annual evaluations. Handles corrective action and termination
of employees in collaboration with human
resources.Duties/Responsibilities:Directs and coordinates the
workflow through the print process with consider to quality,
efficiency, and scheduled completion dates for the highest level of
customer satisfaction. Assure customer quality needs are being met
or exceeded, assure compliance to committed delivery dates, and
assure manufacturing costs are in alignment with plan. Advises the
Senior VP of Operations on operational capabilities and limitations
as a key member of the Company's Leadership Team.Maintains
continual focus on improvement in production cycle time,
elimination of paper waste and reduction of WIP inventories through
use of process control analysis methods for problem identification,
development of standardized Company-wide procedures and follow-up
measurement in key areas of productivity.Develops business plans,
forecasts and cost estimates covering such areas as capital
equipment expenditures, facilities and capacity requirements and
organizational/staffing plans. Continually reviews performance to
determine progress in meeting objectives.Assesses present and
future technical/operations' needs, trends, problems and
improvement areas as they relate to present manufacturing
methods/equipment or new product possibilities. Maintains knowledge
of evolving technologies and latest developments and as
appropriate, leads studies on present capabilities to determine
their applicability to the Company as a cost-effective way of
achieving greater efficiency in workflow and cycle time
reduction.Provides clear leadership on all issues related to the
accomplishment of the Company's production objectives. Develops,
coaches, mentors, assists and advises subordinate managers,
evaluating current performance capabilities and future career
growth potential.Facilitates continuous improvement efforts in all
areas of the process. Plans, develops, and implements new methods
and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating
costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials. Leads
and/or assists in the implementation of continuous improvement
tools across all areasDecides if jobs produced meet our standards
and determines corrective action to ensure proper quality.Safety:
Complies with OSHA regulations and safety policies related to the
area of responsibility. Participates in OSHA and safety training.
Monitors for safety hazards, conducts inspections of work area, and
corrects problems without delay. Plays an active role in training
employees about OSHA standards and safety policies. Encourages
employees to raise and report any safety-related concerns.Basic
Qualifications:Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Business,
Engineering or Printing Technology. MBA or advanced degree studies
in Business Administration would be a plus.Minimum of ten to twelve
years' experience in a related field. Experience in production
management of a printing facility is preferred. Progressive
management record must be evident in terms of career growth to
assignments of increasing responsibility.Multi-functional
background with substantive assignments in two or more of such
areas as Operations, Engineering, or Finance is a plus.Must be
systems/personal computer-literate including the use of
spreadsheets and word processing software; technologically
up-to-date in printing industry knowledge; and a team player with a
high level of energy and self-motivation.Must possess a good blend
of business maturity, judgment and communications ability - both
written and verbal. Must be a "people person" in terms of
personality with strong leadership qualities and a well-developed
management style that will enable him/her to talk comfortably with
employees at any level from the production floor to the senior
management levels.Must be an individual of unquestioned integrity,
capable of rapid assimilation into the organizational style of the
Company and The Sheridan Group. The successful candidate should
also possess the requisite general business capabilities that will
enable advancement beyond this initial assignment, if future
management opportunities become available.Must be able to deal
effectively with personnel and/or production contingencies.Must
possess proven analytic and problem-solving skills including the
use of SPC and LEAN methodologies.Must have experience in
production systems, quality systems, continuous improvement, and
scheduling techniques.Physical Requirements Work is partially
performed in an office environment with no exposure to elements,
but some time is spent in the plant with exposure to dust, dirt,
noise, fumes, oils, lubricants and chemicals. Job requires frequent
sitting and walking and moderate physical effort.Walking: Must be
able to walk as some tasks require walking.Standing: Must be able
to stand on a concrete floor, 3 to 4 days per week, for some
tasks.Lifting/Carrying: Must be able to lift and carry signatures
weighing up to 10 lbs. for inspections.Sitting: Some tasks allow
for sitting - usually for more than one hour/day.Why work for
