Assistant Director of Finance - Renaissance Baltimore
Harborplace Hotel Job Summary: Coordinate, organize and actively
oversee the operation of the Auditing/Accounting department. Manage
cash flow, necessary reporting and approval of all accounting
functions.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
--- Assist Controller with personnel functions as directed, e.g.
interviewing, training, performance evaluations, resolving
problems, providing open communication and recommending discipline
and/or termination when appropriate.
--- Review all ledger account reconciliations to include: bank
statements, assets, liabilities and credit cards. Coordinate and
review monthly financial statements for accuracy. Monitor coding of
cash receipts.
--- Direct and supervise performance of accounting, auditing and
cashiering associates.
--- Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear
direction to staff.
--- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a
regular basis.
--- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
--- Complete financial statements as needed
--- Assist with the annual budgeting process for hotels
--- Perform internal audits
--- Assist with external audits
--- Train controllers and staff accountants
--- Assist with monthly financial preliminaries
--- Handle daily cash reconciliation for all bank accounts
--- Educate support center accounting staff and hotel operational
staff on all accounting standard operating procedures, and monitor
accountability
Abilities Required
--- Must have the ability to communicate in English. Must have a
self-starting personality with an even disposition, and maintain a
professional appearance and manner at all times. Must be able to
communicate well with hotel General Managers and staff. Must be
willing to "pitch-in" and help co- workers with their job duties
and be a team player. Must have prior hotel accounting experience.
Must have the ability to analyze large volume of complex financial
information from many sources and create reports, forecasts
projections for executive level committees. Must have a basic
understanding of complex computerized financial systems and ability
to use them, including manual dexterity to operate all office
machines.
