LOCATION OF POSITIONMDH/Prevention and Health Promotion
Administration, Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control
(CCDPC), Baltimore, MarylandMain Purpose Of JobThis position will
be the second-ranking Senior Administrator of the Maryland
Department of Health (MDH)'s Prevention and Health Promotion
Administration (PHPA)'s Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and
Control (CCDPC). This position will work with the Administration's
Director to set the direction for environmental and systematic
changes in Maryland communities, in order to prevent and manage
chronic disease. With an annual operating budget of over $13
million, CCDPC houses a wide variety of projects which address
heart disease, diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and Alzheimer's
disease. Such projects also promote nutrition, physical activity
and inclusive programming for citizens with disabilities. This
position will provide day-to-day operational direction to two units
within CCDPC. These units encompass over fifteen (15) staff
members, including the BRFSS and Data Manager and the
Implementation Team Chief. This position will also manage the
tracking systems for all CCDPC budgets and grant project
deliverables, while overseeing the writing and development of
grants, as well as the tracking of budgets and expenditures; the
planning of resources; and, the management of assets, including
leading complex procurements. In addition to resource management
duties, this position will also be responsible for project design,
implementation and evaluation of evidence-based programming
activities which are completed in a systematic and efficient manner
to achieve the MDH, PHPA, and CCDPC's mission, goals and
objectives. Finally, this position will provide back up to the
Director and be responsible for the entire center in the Director's
absence.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSQualified candidates should possess a
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in
Public Health, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership,
and/or a related field. Qualified candidates should also possess at
least 5 years of professional experience in Public Health
management, health care and/or health policy, as well as at least 3
years of supervisory or managerial experience.DESIRED OR PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONSThe desired candidate should have Public Health
programming experience, as well as experience writing grants and
budgets. The desired candidate should also have experience
