POSITION SUMMARY
The NAACP is seeking a Senior Manager, Training and Advocacy that
will create, develop, implement, and conduct training, advocacy,
and development programs for our field operations. This role is key
to the growth and strengthening of our members, our units, and our
Association
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Assess training and development needs through surveys,
interviews, focus groups, and communication with managers,
instructors, and customer representatives;
- Create, organize, plan, and present various forms of
onboarding, orientation, and skills training for employees;
- Develop unique training programs to fulfill field and
membership-specific needs to maintain or improve job skills;
- Conduct annual learning and development needs assessments and
develop strategies to support the ongoing needs of the
company;
- Develop learning and development programs and objectives and
modify programs as needed;
- Obtain and/or develop effective training materials utilizing
various media;
- Create and/or acquire training procedure manuals, guides, and
course materials;
- Present training and development programs using various forms
and formats, including group discussions, lectures, simulations,
and videos;
- Maintain records of training and development activities,
attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining
requirements;
- Assess prepared training materials;
- Evaluate program effectiveness through assessments, surveys,
and feedback;
- Ensure delivery methods (in person or online) are effective and
return the desired results;
- Develop and manage learning and development budget;
- Train and coach leaders and others involved in employee
development efforts;
- Ensure the learning management system is effectively configured
and utilized;
- Plan, organize, and/or facilitate employee development and
training events;
- Develop and maintain organizational communications to ensure
employees know training and development events and resources;
- Conduct follow-up studies of completed learning events to
evaluate and measure results;
- Maintain knowledge of the latest trends in training and
development;
- Prepare and implement training budget;
- Maintain records and reports of expenses; and
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the Vice
President, Training and Advocacy, or other designees.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Professional Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational
Effectiveness, Business Administration, or a closely related field
preferred;
- Three years of experience designing and implementing learning
and development programs required;
- At least three years of training experience is required;
- Experience in community organizing, constituent services, and
government advocacy is required;
- Ability to clearly convey concepts and strategies in
verbal/written communications; able to simplify complexity and
develop succinct and focused messages;
- Ability to build rapport and credibility among cross-functional
teams and within all levels of the organization; and
- Detail-oriented and the ability to set priorities and
objectives. Required skills/Abilities
- Strong work ethic with an ability to self-start, work
independently, and proactively problem-solve;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong presentation skills;
- Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and
methods;
- Ability to evaluate and research training options and
alternatives;
- Ability to design and implement effective training and
development; and
- Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related
program software.
