As a member of the Enterprise Strategy function, the Director of Competitive Intelligence and Analytics leads a team of professionals focused on the collection and synthesis of market and competitor intelligence that provides insights and predictions on how, when, and where market components might move. CareFirst is looking to enhance its competitive intelligence function by leveraging data assets to help the strategy team and the broader organization infuse external insights and data in decision-making. The position partners closely with peers and other stakeholders to help identify new products, go-to-market and corporate strategies and support of customized analysis for internal consulting projects.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Develop a vision and roadmap for the Competitive Intelligence and Analytics team that helps shape future strategic decision-making with sound data solutions. Analyze national and regional healthcare trends, competitor developments and business models, and potentially disruptive forces, and determine implications for the company's business strategies. Regularly lead and influence meetings with executives related to strategic intelligence; and connecting the dots between intelligence and strategic direction.Delivers expert level consultation and data driven guidance to Executive leadership and Business areas to determine corporate wide and divisional objectives and goals. Conducts detailed analyses & synthesis of competitive intelligence and market insights data from a variety of public and proprietary sources and prepare easily digestible reports. Uncovers strategically important insights from multiple data sources and distill findings into actionable reports. Assess the strategic and tactical implications of each set of findings and make recommendations for corrective actions and strategic business recommendations to leadership as necessary. Autonomously present research findings via written reports and oral presentations to stakeholders across CareFirst.Manage a team with a focus on the development of analytics capabilities to support strategic priorities, including best practices. Partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and with internal and/or external resources to develop tools and services such as segmentation, modeling, dashboard development, decision aids, and business case analysis to support the organization. -Foster an inclusive and welcoming culture within the Competitive Intelligence and Analytics team, promoting close collaboration and career development. Lead the development of scalable and actionable data products, working with stakeholders to define the necessary architecture, collection methodologies, and standards. Manage a team that utilizes knowledge of modern statistical and machine learning techniques to answer complex questions that support key business decisions. Build compelling presentations that synthesize findings, explain the story behind the numbers, and communicate actionable recommendations.QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, Mathematics or related fieldExperience:

  • 8 years Progressive experience in an enterprise strategy, competitive intelligence, or data analytics role
  • 3 years management experiencePreferred Qualifications:
    • Graduate degree at the Master's or PhD level in Business, Market Research, or other quantitative discipline is preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
      • Ability to quickly and creatively analyze quantitative and qualitative information related to health industry trends, products, customer feedback, and internal performance; make strategy recommendations; and make timely decisions in a fast-paced high-pressure environment.
      • Strong negotiation and relationship building skills.
      • Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures
      • Strong research and strategic analysis skills.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Applications
