Job Description:
ICT is looking for an Executive Director (ED) for its
Washington, DC office. The ED implements the mission of the
organization, manages the day-to-day affairs of the US Office, and
reports directly to the President of the organization.The main
areas of responsibility include leading and managing the staff,
preparing and overseeing program budgets, fundraising, creating
opportunities for increased awareness and support for Tibet in the
US, and working with the President and Executive Directors of ICT's
European offices on shared initiatives.The International Campaign
for Tibet (ICT) is a non-profit advocacy organization with offices
in Washington, DC, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Brussels. ICT is
committed to supporting the Tibetan peoples' cultural, political
and social rights and freedoms and their efforts to preserve
Tibet's unique culture, language, and identity. ICT undertakes
initiatives and mobilizes its members to increase international
support for Tibetans and their peaceful struggle, advocate for
human rights and freedoms in Tibet, support Tibetan refugees, and
work to promote a negotiated solution for Tibet.THE
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR INCLUDE
- A passionate dedication to the success of the organization's
mission and knowledge of the Tibet issue, history and advocacy
environment in the US.
- Leading and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the US
office.
- Is a member of ICT's coordinating council, which under the
direction of the President, develops strategy for ICT worldwide,
oversees the streamlining of its execution across offices, and
creates opportunities for shared resources and synergies.
- To engage with the Board of Directors with regular updates,
activities, challenges and prepare for and participate in meetings
of the Board of Directors.
- To inspire, motivate and lead a proven and effective team
that's dedicated to fulfilling the organization's mission through
highly successful programs, community engagement, and
fundraising.
- To develop and maintain relationships with other stakeholder
organizations that help advance the mission of the
organization.
- To oversee ICT's government advocacy programs, including
outreach to members of the Administration, Congress and their
staff.
- To meet the aggressive fundraising goals of the organization,
by securing financial support from foundations, individual donors,
and ICT's robust direct mail program.
- To oversee the responsible fiscal management of the
organization, ensuring adequate and sound funding for the mission
and goals of the company.
- To ensure ICT's communications efforts are of the highest
quality; formulating messaging and delivering compelling content
through all ICT's social and paid channels, particularly overseeing
the media outreach including, press releases, op-eds and other
engagement opportunities.
- Represent the organization at conferences and events,
broadening membership base, and cultivating strategic relationships
to strengthen and further ICT's visibility, credibility and
awareness.QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidates need to have considerable leadership or advocacy
experience that enables them to have access to and engage with
government leaders at high levels.
- A familiarity and understanding of the Tibetan situation and
the political dynamics within China.
- A dynamic, charismatic leader and a team player who enjoys
being the public face of an organization.
- Thorough understanding of non-profit management and financial
practices.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication
skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate the organization's mission
and priorities to donors, volunteers and the overall
community.
- Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating,
change management, program development and task facilitation.
- Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skills
and understanding of the funding community.
- Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals
and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies
and volunteers.
- Five or more years of experience in senior management,
preferably with nonprofit organizations.SALARY AND BENEFITSThe
salary range for the Executive Director position is
$105,000-$115,000. ICT offers excellent benefits, including paying
100% of the premium and deductible for health insurance. ICT offers
a 403b program and matches employee contributions up to 5%. Dental
and Vision insurance are also included.The engagement is for a
minimum period of two years. This position comes with expectation
of a strong in-office presence of at least three days a week with
some remote work possible. Travel, both domestic and international
