Manages a team of Instructional Designers, eLearning Developers, and Technical Writers, who are responsible for assessing needs and gaps in performance to develop, deliver, and evaluate training through various tools and techniques. This position will monitor effectiveness of training content design and delivery to ensure complete alignment with corporate objectives. Ensures training programs and materials meet client objectives within required timeframes. This position will be able to coach, guide, and develop and is willing to take a hands-on approach to ensure deliverables are executed. In this role, the Design Manager will ensure that there is effective operational planning and project management to make strategic decisions and prioritize/plan appropriately for multiple training design projects.
Requirements :

  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Communications, eLearning, Instructional Design, or related field is required. Master's degree preferred
    B. Knowledge:
    High level of proficiency in adult learning, training delivery, performance improvement, instructional design using the ADDIE or SAM models, eLearning development, Basic Project Management as well as experience working with a variety of learning technologies.
    Must be familiar with different approaches to staff and management development and various delivery systems. Must have experience customizing, delivering, and evaluating training in a business setting.
    Advanced knowledge of Adobe, MS Word, PowerPoint, SnagIt.
    Advanced knowledge of eLearning authoring software such as Captivate, Storyline, and Camtasia
    C. Skills:
    Work requires skills in project management, facilitating groups, communicating findings (oral and written), interviewing, negotiating, contracting, and writing action plans and performance contracts.
    Work requires excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills to allow incumbent to interact effectively with all levels of personnel; relationship builder and collaborator.
    D. Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:
    Will be required to obtain certifications as needed to administer and facilitate selected training programs and knowledge assessment instruments.
    E. Work Experience:
    Work requires five or more years of demonstrated training and development experience to include needs assessment and analysis, training design and delivery, training evaluation, and performance improvement. At least one year of experience in a leadership capacity is required. Previous experience managing the learning function preferred.
    F. Machines, Tools, Equipment:
    Must operate PC, general office and AV equipment.

    Dimensions:

    A. Budget Responsibility:
    Forecasts and collaborates with Sr. Director on training related portion of departmental budget. Makes cost conscious decisions regarding purchase recommendations. Considers cost effective alternatives.
    B. Authority/Decision Making Level:
    Works with Sr. Director to make decisions on all issues related to training. Organizes and prioritizes work to meet changing priorities. Makes decisions within the scope of authority and established guidelines.
    C. Supervisory Responsibility:
    Leader of the team assigns work and provides guidance and direction to others as appropriate. Provides regular guidance and coaching to training staff. Conducts performance evaluations and performance management.
    Problem Solving:
    Work requires incumbent to be capable of accurately diagnosing performance gaps and thinking strategically to resolve underlying problems.
    Information Management:
    Must be able to draw conclusions from data, track trends and determine solutions.
    Working Conditions:
    Works in normal conditions where there are no physical discomforts due to dust, dirt, noise and the like.
    Work frequently produces a high level of mental/visual fatigue due to attention to
    detail and adherence to deadlines.
