What You Will Do:
Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Oncology - New Grad Full-time -
This role is reserved for the new graduate or nurse with less than
12 months experience. The nurse will utilize this time to learn the
institution and nursing practice. It is expected that a nurse in
this role successfully pass the probationary period within 12
months (18 months maximum with a defined action plan developed with
manager). Utilizes the nursing process as the frame of reference
for practice as a professional nurse. Participates in activities to
develop own practice, and to support group practice goals at the
unit level. Functions effectively as a member of a
multidisciplinary health care team. Is accountable to patient,
family and team members for care provided, and to the nurse manager
for totality of work performance.
The Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center
Hematology and Medical Oncology unit consists of two 16 bed
inpatient units focusing on the care of hematology and medical
oncology patients. Care provided includes a wide range of acuity
level of patients on the cancer care continuum. Care ranges from
initial diagnosis and treatment, disease related symptom management
and pain control, long term survivor ship, or end of life.
What You Will Do:
We are seeking Registered Nurses (RN) who will be competent in the
skills/knowledge required and fully participate in unit governance.
He/she will practice and adhere to the guidelines specified in the
UMMC Professional Nurse Job Charter. Independently provides and
coordinates care provided to patients within a clinical specialty.
Serves as a fully effective and participative member of the
multidisciplinary patient care services team.

includes providing integrated care working with the physicians,
social workers, pharmacist and nurse practitioners.

processes and outcomes of care during an episode of care. Is
accountable to peers for the advancement of group practice on the
unit, and to the nurse manager for the totality of work
What You Need to Be Successful:
-Nursing Graduates welcomed if have completed a Sr practicum in
Oncology focus referred /or worked as a SN or PCT in a med/surg or
telemetry adult health setting. oncology setting preferred
-Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, with a Bachelor's
degree in Nursing preferred;
-Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or
eligible to practice due to compact state requirements outlined by
the Maryland Board of Nursing
