Job Description:
Job DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities of the
Position1. Participate in a multi-tiered system of support for
infants and toddlers and preschool aged students (PK3) with
social/emotional and behavioral needs.2. Participate in initial
evaluations of infants and toddlers referred based on social
emotional delay. Participate in a team approach to support the
development of IFSP outcomes related to social/emotional and/or
behavioral needs.3. Provide early childhood mental health services
to infants and toddlers and their families including social
emotional supports and parent child interactions.4. Coach families
and child care providers to support the developmental needs of
children with disabilities in order to support social emotional
development. 5. Conduct observations of infants and toddlers in
natural environments with social/emotional and behavioral needs to
provide supports and services.6. Collaborate with early
interventionists and preschool staff to support children and
families during weekly team meetings.7. Conduct evaluations and
family assessments to support early identification of Autism
Spectrum Disorders and Developmental Delays in the area of social
emotional development.8. Conduct functional behavioral assessments
and develop family based behavioral intervention plans for infants
and toddlers or school based plans for preschoolers (PK3). Provide
follow up coaching and support based on the developed plan.9.
Participate in the transition planning process to Part B and
Preschool (PK3) to Prekindergarten (PK4) through collaboration to
ensure a smooth transition for children with Autism Spectrum
Disorders and/or Developmental Delays in the area of social
emotional development. Participating in initial IEP and annual IEP
development as appropriate.10. Complete Student Assistance Requests
(SARF) under the direction of the Preschool Special Education
Coordinator. This request may include observation, team meetings
for feedback, and school based coaching related to social emotional
delays.11. Provide training on the development of positive
behavioral interventions including the Prevent-Teach-Reinforce
approach for families, child care providers, preschool staff, and
early interventionists.12. Adheres to federal/state/local
procedures for record keeping, eligibility documentation, timelines
and procedural safeguards.13. Develops and maintains a schedule to
ensure compliance with all required meetings and services.14.
Participates in building and county professional development.15.
Maintains regular, on-time attendance.Minimum Requirements of the
Position1. Has obtained or is eligible for an endorsement as a
School Psychologist as prescribed in the bylaws of the Maryland
State Department of Education. Will work towards meeting the
Maryland State Department of Education Personnel Standards for
Infants and Toddlers Programs.2. Experience or specialized training
in the field of early childhood development and mental health are
preferred.3. Ability to work independently and maintain ethical and
accountability standards.4. Demonstrates interpersonal skills and
respects and appreciates cultural and ethnic diversity. 5.
Communicates effectively and courteously verbally and in writing.6.
Has the ability to coordinate activities and work effectively with
professional staff, support staff, parents, and representatives
from agencies outside the school system.7. Has a valid driver's
license and automobile for daily use.
