Hours: 1p-9:30p and 5a-1:30p with every other weekend and holidays
as needed. (40 hours per week)
Requirements:
Under the direction of the supervisor, the Nursing Scheduling
Coordinator monitors daily staffing needs to procure and coordinate
supplemental staffing coverage to ensure a safe environment for
patients in a cost effective manner. Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills are required to discuss the staffing needs and
requirements of each unit, arrange supplemental coverage, and
maintain external contacts with staffing agencies.
Knowledge of programs that relate to productivity, improvement,
like scheduling, spreadsheets, electronic communication
Written communication skills to draft letters and memos
Strong interpersonal skills required to communicate with various
departments
Know of office and administrative procedures and ability to
organize and prioritize tasks normally acquired through two to
three years of related experience
Requires comprehensive understanding of personal computers and
demonstrated proficiency in the use of standard word processing,
PowerPoint, and spreadsheet software
Understands the nursing department structure and competencies to
assign staff to the appropriate unit each shift
Manage and maintain the supplemental staff schedule and update
schedules
Identify gaps in schedules and independently solicits supplemental
staff and nurse staffing agencies to make changes to improve the
mix of staff available to meet patient care needs
Using knowledge of nursing competencies, nursing department
structure, and scheduling/assignment criteria accurately assigns
nursing staff to nursing units
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma (GED) is
required for this position.
Completion of an AA degree is preferred.
Ability to recognize and/or anticipate the needs of customers and
respond accordingly
Analytical ability to organize work, set priorities, performs
duties simultaneously and effectively function in stressful
situations
Highly effective verbal and written communication skillsto
coordinate/provide information to the health care team
