Job Description:
The VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS) is a Level I
tertiary multi campus teaching facility affiliated with the
University of Maryland - School of Medicine and over 100
educational institutions. Locatednextto the University of Maryland
Medical Centerwith a walkway connecting the two facilities, the
medical center maintains an active affiliation with the University
in the sharing of staff, resources, and technology. Baltimore
Veterans Affairs Medical Center is the acute medical and surgical
care facility for the VA Maryland Health Care System and offers a
full range of inpatient, outpatient, and primary care services. As
one of the most modern health care facilities in the country, the
medical center offers veterans state-of-the-art medical technology,
clinical services, and research programs. It is home to the worlds
first filmless radiology department, which allows health care
providers to have nearly instant access to patient radiology images
from anywhere in the facility and throughout the health care
system. The Medical Care Clinical Center within the VA Maryland
Health Care System is currently seeking a Chief of Cardiology. The
Cardiology section provides outpatient care for patients with a
wide variety of cardiovascular conditions at the BT and PP VAMCs
and inpatient care in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and the Acute
Medicine service at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. There is an
active electrophysiology program including device implantation and
monitoring, cardiac catheterization laboratory including
interventional cardiology, pulmonary hypertension and congestive
heart failure clinics and an active echocardiography program at
both BT and PP VAMCs. The candidate would be expected to hold a
faculty appointment at our academic affiliate, University of
Maryland School of Medicine, at either the Associate Professor or
Professor level. Note:This position is 0.875 FTE. The designated
hire will be geographic full-time at the University Maryland School
of Medicine and part-time at the VA. Qualifications: The candidate
must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular
Disease, having completed fellowship training in an ACGME
accredited program. Benefits: Education Debt Reduction Program

Recruitment Incentive: Authorized Pay: Competitive salary, annual

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant
restriction on moonlighting About the area: Just off the Chesapeake
Bay, about an hours drive north of Washington, D.C., and two hours
south of Philadelphia. Award-winning dining is not hard to find,

to current-day artists. Baltimore also has a variety of performance
venues, including the historic Hippodrome Theater, a former
