Full-time, Part-time, PRN opportunities Job SummaryThe Nurse
Practitioner position provides leadership and direction to the
medical unit and its daily clinical operations. The Nurse
Practitioner works as an adjunct to and in collaboration with the
Population Health Team and Physicians.Essential Job Functions
Determines and assesses the health status of patients by reviewing
records, taking comprehensive medical histories, and performing
physical examinations; and records findings. Initiates, performs
and directs other nurses to perform screening and diagnostic tests,
including blood draws, cultures, skin tests, pap smears, and other
procedures appropriate for patients condition. Performs routine
laboratory work and other tests, and interprets results; or
arranges for such procedures at other facilities. Plans and
oversees on-going treatment and clinical management of patients in
stable phases of chronic illness, and general health maintenance of
non-chronic, non-acute patients. Informs, counsels and instructs
individuals and families on their specific health problems, test
results, and general health-related matters such as nutrition,
birth control, social behavior, growth and development, aging and
substance abuse. Acts as a clinical consultant to medical, nursing,
paramedical personnel; consults and confers with a wide variety of
health and related care providers, such as public health nurses,
social workers and mental health workers. Consults with physicians
regarding patients conditions, diagnosis, treatment plan,
medication orders and need for specialty care; keeps physician
advised of patient status as necessary. Prescribes medications
according to proper clinical care and standards of practice.
Recognizes situations requiring physician care, such as acute
conditions requiring immediate attention, changes in chronic
conditions, and indications of early stages of chronic conditions.
Minimum Education, Training & Experience RequiredNurse Practitioner
certification in the State of Maryland. Completion of an approved
internship program. Completion of at least two (2) years of
approved residency program. Maryland Medical License and
State/Federal DEA. Must be a Board Eligible or Board Certified.
Certification in Basic Life Support required; Advanced Cardiac Life
Support preferred. Two (2) or more years of Nurse Practitioner
experience in ambulatory and/or clinical area of interest with at
least one year in a leadership role.by Jobble
