reimbursement! Under the general supervision of the Administrative
Director, the Chief Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for
organizing, managing and directing all technical and staff
activities of the echo lab. Assists in planning and managing
divisional operations, schedule, safety, staff engagement, and
establishing guidelines for quality control of equipment and
procedures. Prioritizes services rendered based on types of
procedures, patient conditions and staff/equipment available. This
role will support our clinical department but may also support the
echo school if needed. This role performs an extensive range of
cardiac ultrasound studies and may also perform vascular studies in
the clinical and research settings at various locations. They also
function as a Lead Cardiac sonographer. Examinations may include
Transthoracic, Exercise, and Pharmacologic Stress Echocardiograms,
special procedures including but not limited to echo guided
myocardial biopsies, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy studies, and
additional procedures as dictated by research protocols and
clinical trials. The Chief Cardiac Sonographer is the direct
supervisor for Cardiac Sonographers Level I and II. Additional
responsibilities may include, but are not limited to leadership
role for the Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Cardiac Sonographer
Echocardiography Program. This position may also include clinical
and/or didactic instructor responsibilities to the JHH Ultrasound
sonography students, and Cardiology Fellows in the Echo Lab. Shift:
Full Time (40 hours per week) Dayshift; Hours 8:30a-5:00p; weekend
work not required Education: B.S. in Diagnostic Ultrasound
preferred or a graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of
Allied Health Program (CAAHEP) – accredited Diagnostic ultrasound
program, along with five years of experience as a Cardiac
Sonographer. Additional clinical experience or credentials may be
considered in lieu of education. Licensure/Certification: N/A
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by The American
Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered
Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiac Credentialing International
(CCI) is required. Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) preferred
but not required. Required Work Experience: Required five years of
clinical scanning experience as a Cardiac Sonographer in a
hospital-based environment. Additional experience as a vascular
technologist or background in research is desirable. Additional
education or credentials may be considered in lieu of some clinical
experience. Prefer at least one year of experience in a lead role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of cardiac
anatomy, physiology, and cardiac disease. Requires knowledge of
medical terminology. Strong knowledge of physics of ultrasound and
how this relates to image acquisition. Knowledge of how various
disease effects cardiac function. Advanced sonographic skills are
necessary to obtain and document a complete examination or research
protocol. High level analytical ability is needed to obtain
appropriate images and required measurements for a diagnostic
echocardiogram. Interpersonal and communications skills are
necessary to provide technical guidance and instruction for cardiac
ultrasound interns, clinical and research fellows, and attending
physicians. Strong eye/hand coordination skills are required, along
with high visual acuity. Ability to proficiently describe
significant clinical findings or developments in research subjects
in a timely and comprehensive manner. Strong management and
leadership skills are required. Analytical ability is required in
prioritizing and evaluating work conducted by area personnel and
maintaining quality assurance standards. Excellent writing,
interpersonal and communication skills. Salary Range: Minimum
49.07/hour - Maximum 85.89/hour. Compensation will be commensurate
with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and
responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0
