Job Description:

MedStar Health is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Peer Recovery Coach to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. This position is instrumental in offering support and resources to individuals recovering from addiction, helping them to integrate into the community and make positive lifestyle changes. The Peer Recovery Coach will work closely with patients to provide emotional support, assist in the development of recovery plans, and connect them with necessary healthcare and community services. This role requires a deep understanding of the challenges faced during recovery and a commitment to advocacy and patient empowerment. Develop and maintain supportive relationships with clients to foster a sense of community and support. Assist clients in creating personalized recovery plans. Provide emotional support and encouragement to help clients remain engaged in their recovery process. Link clients to necessary healthcare and social services within the community. Educate clients and their families about addiction and recovery processes. Monitor and document client progress and provide feedback. Advocate for the needs of clients in various settings, including healthcare facilities and community organizations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work empathetically with a diverse population Knowledge of addiction and recovery processes Capability to maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality Problem-solving skills and ability to navigate community resources Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or similar certification is highly preferred.
