MedStar Health, a leading not-for-profit healthcare organization in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region, is seeking a dedicated Peer Recovery Specialist to join our team. This position is pivotal in offering support and recovery services to individuals suffering from addiction or substance abuse issues. By sharing personal experiences and offering emotional, social, and motivational support, you will aid clients in their recovery journey, helping them achieve and maintain sobriety and improve their quality of life. This role requires a compassionate and understanding individual who can provide direct peer support and maintain a safe, welcoming environment for recovery. Provide one-on-one and group support sessions to help clients develop recovery skills and coping mechanisms. Assist clients in setting recovery goals and encourage accountability. Share personal recovery experiences and build trust and hope among clients. Act as a liaison between clients and clinical staff, providing insights into client progress. Organize and lead recovery support groups. Maintain accurate records of client progress and provide reports to healthcare providers. Coordinate with healthcare professionals to develop client-centric recovery plans. Educate families and communities about substance abuse and the recovery process. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong empathy and resilience Ability to maintain confidentiality Knowledge of recovery and treatment methods for substance abuse Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) preferred Training in substance abuse, mental health first aid, and crisis intervention
