POSITION SUMMARY :
Performs diagnostic sonographic and interventional procedures in
the department or on the units under the general supervision of a
High School diploma or equivalent including successful completion
of an approved curriculum in diagnostic sonography.
Requires a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology
as related to the position.
Requires a general knowledge of sonogram protocols in performing
Ability to use all necessary equipment to obtain and document a
Ability to perform sonography and measurements required for a
diagnostic sonography examination.
Require interpersonal and communication skills to interact with
interpreting physicians, medical staff, patients, visitors and
Registry eligible according to the guidelines established by The
American Registry Of
Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular
Credentialing International (CCI) in at least one of the
specialties performed by the department. NOTE: Certification must
be obtained within one year of employment.
2 years clinical scanning experience required.
Machines, Tools, Equipment:
Familiar with various models and manufacturers of diagnostic
recording and storage devices, computers and accessory
Day Shift, prn, hours may vary
Non - Exempt, Pay Grade: CL
Work Location: Columbia and Eldersburg
Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials,
radiation, and pharmacological agents with little likelihood of
harm if established health precautions are followed.
Work may require the use of lab coats, uniforms and/or protective
clothing including gowns, gloves, masks, and eye gear.
Position requires the ability to assist the patient on and off the
examination table and to assist the patient into proper positioning
to obtain diagnostic results.
The position will require moving and lifting of supplies and
equipment as needed, as well as the ability to move the ultrasound
unit for portable examinations.
