We are looking for talented Assistant Nurse Manager to join our
nursing team here at University of Maryland Medical Center
Under general administrative direction of the Nurse Manager, the
Assistant Nurse Manager, Patient Care Services (PCS) is accountable
for the delivery of patient care services which supports the
strategic plan of the organization and achieves clinical and
service quality objectives, in a clinical unit or care delivery
site. This role is accountable for the quality of clinical services
delivered, for the competency and performance of nursing staff, and
for designing and maintaining systems to support multidisciplinary
team functioning and continuity of services within a product line,
while working in coordination with Nurse Manager. The Assistant
Nurse Manager, PCS also serves as a key participant in
organizational project teams and work groups at the organizational
and unit level.
About the Unit
The Pediatric Emergency Department provides care to patients from
birth through age 22 that require urgent and emergency care. All
patients are triaged upon arrival utilizing a five tier triage ESI
- Care is provided on a continuous 24 hour basis, 7 days a week.
The department features 23 patient care beds that include
resuscitation beds, acute care beds, and observational care
- The department cares for approximately 17,000 pediatric
patients per year and provides 23 hour observation care
- Forty percent of the general population requires emergent care,
while the remaining sixty percent require urgent care services.
Patient's needs range from emergent critical care and
stabilization, requiring advanced life support measures, to urgent
and basic care. Twenty three-hour observation care services are
available for patients with continued medical and nursing care
needs beyond those of a typical emergency care visit.
- The department offers a full range of emergency services
ranging from routine procedures, such as wound repair and splinting
performed within the department to routine and specialty diagnostic
tests, such as CT, ultrasound, nuclear medicine and MRI.
- Multidisciplinary specialty consultation services are available
to the pediatric patients.
What You Need to Be Successful:
Education and Experience
- BSN required. Master's degree with management coursework
preferred. Incumbents are expected to matriculate in an accredited
graduate program within one year of their employment and have five
years to complete the degree
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or
eligibility for licensure due to Compact state agreements outlined
through the MD Board of Nursing, is required Three years of
clinical experience required
- Three (3) years of clinical experience required
