Job Description Summary Job Description Working within the Global Clinical Development (GCD) organization, the Associate Clinical Program Manager (A-CPgM) is responsible and accountable for advancing and securing the compliant execution of BDs strategic goals as they relate to managing the Global Associate Sample Collection Program (ASCP) at all US and International locations in a coordinated way, driving the achievement of results and organizational benefits that would not be possible if managed individually. The Associate-CPgM functions as a transitional and developmental role for associates looking to broaden their span, scope, reach, responsibilities and accountabilities in a focused area of the clinical program across all BD locations. Typical candidates present with at least 5 years research experience, with a minimum of 3 years demonstrable Project Management experience. Program or Platform assignment(s) are of moderate to high scope & complexity, with an emphasis on learning through experience. A-CPgMs proactively look to build and expand upon an early emergence of each Core Area (Knowledge Base, Interpersonal Skills, Project Management as a Discipline). If / When assigned to high complexity programs, the A-CPgM will work with & under the direction of an experienced, and mentoring, Senior CPgM, or higher. The A-CPgM will report to and collaborate with the Director, Clinical Operations. Briefly, CPgMs are responsible and accountable for advancing and securing the compliant execution of BDs strategic goals. CPgMs manage multiple, related projects in a coordinated way, driving the achievement of results and organizational benefits that are not possible when managed individually. Successful BD CPgMs leverage their Subject Matter Expert (SME) Knowledge Base (KB), Interpersonal Skillset (IS), and Project & Program Management as a Discipline (PMD, PgMD) to deliver desired results within defined constraints. The Associate-CPgM functions as a transitional and developmental role for associates looking to broaden their span, scope, reach, responsibilities and accountabilities in a focused area of BDs Core or New Product Portfolios. Typical candidates present with at least 5 years research experience, with a minimum of 3 years demonstrable Project Management experience. Program or Platform assignment(s) are of moderate to high scope & complexity, with an emphasis on learning through experience. A-CPgMs proactively look to build and expand upon an early emergence of each Core Area (Knowleddge Base, Interpersonal Skills, Project Management as a Discipline). If / When assigned to high complexity programs, the A-CPgM will work with & under the direction of an experienced, and mentoring, Senior CPgM, or higher. Education - A Bachelors Degree, or regional equivalent, in the Life or Medical Sciences, typically but not limited to: Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Physiology, Toxicology and Zoology. Graduate and/or Postdoctoral degrees are preferred. The degree is a requirement unless an equivalent combination of education, experience and certification / licensure from an appropriately credited organization is sufficient for an associate to work reasonably independent of supervision. Knowledge Base - A minimum of 5 years experience in human subject research. Exceptions may be granted for High Performing High Potential Associates. - Excellent communication skills are required, including fluency in verbal and written English; fluency in additional languages is a plus - BD is organized in Three Business Segments Interventional (BDI), Life Sciences (BDLS), Medical (BDM). GCD Supports Projects / Programs in a Fourth Segment Global Shared Services (BDX). - GCD has established and requires a minimum of one core strength aligned with our segments and therapeutic areas, with increasing proficiency over development, time, roles and responsibilities Global Harmonized Associate Sample Collection Program - Clinical program planning and execution for all BD locations - Manage assigned & allocated internal/external resources to deliver clinical program with BDX strategy, scope, timeline and budget, and ensuring collaboration with BUs on the priorities, risk, changes, critical milestones and budget/resource needs. - Knowledge of scientific methodologies and clinical laboratory science with technical experience and expertise with In Vitro Diagnostic, Med Tech, and Clinical Laboratory systems/work flows. - Provide critical thinking, leadership and expertise in study design and execution for regulatory response and submission. Interpersonal Skillset - Active Awareness : ability to initiate, observe, and listen to verbal and nonverbal interactions and events and to process this input to adjust a course of action; - Adaptive Communication : ability to listen to and articulate ideas verbally and in writing to a broad range of individuals and groups using the most-effective communication approaches for each; - People-Orientation : strong interpersonal skills and an ability to quickly build and sustain positive relationships with individuals; - Servant Leadership & Team-Orientation : ability to support a team to accomplish objectives by serving, motivating, collaborating with and focusing on the needs of team members; attentive to team dynamics and goals; - Flexibility : ability and willingness to change course and modify approaches to accomplish positive outcomes; - Strategy : ability to understand strategy and align tactical strategic work in a well-balanced way; - Analysis : well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; - Customer-Orientation : focus on the stakeholders needs with the ability to meet them with high quality and dependability; - Results-Orientation : ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines while delivering high quality outcomes; - Personal Character : appealing personal characteristics with a strong moral and ethical character. Program Management as a Discipline - PMP or PMI-ACP Certification is a preferred goal for all Associate CPgMs, and preferred for early tenured CPgMs. - Certification such as PgMP, is preferred for all Senior CPMs, and a plus for CPM. - GCD Programs follow a parallel phased approach gated by critical path activities: Concept, Development, Start-Up, Enrollment, Maintenance, Analysis & Reporting, Close Out, Archive & Completion.
