Our HR team is growing, and we're looking for a Human Resources
Generalist (HRG) to help us develop world class talent solutions to
work with our corporate functions.
Your Role & Responsibilities
- The primary role is to act as a strategic partner to Ciena's
executive leadership team directly supporting Ciena's senior
leaders to help drive our business strategy
- The HRG's role is to act as a member of various leadership
teams, participating and acting as change agent and culture
- The HRG will design and implement a Talent Agenda for the
organization taking into account both Ciena's defined People
Strategy and the Business Strategy of the particular function /
unit / region. Talent Agenda will include: Workforce Evolution,
Leadership Development & Succession Plan, Organization
Effectiveness & Development Plans.
- You will ensure operational activities roll out seamlessly for
the organization via excellent collaboration skills and partnership
with Ciena's Centers of Excellence (Total Rewards, Learning &
Development, HR Connect, Global Mobility).
- 7+ years' of relevant and scalable HR Generalist experience
within a corporate environment supporting -500 associates
preferably in a Technology focused organization
- BS or BA Degree in an HR related discipline or relevant area of
study - PHR/SPHR certifications a plus
- Good sense of humor
- Ability to build strong trust-based relationships
- Ability to coach and advise Senior Leaders on HR and other
business related topics.
- Ability to create a clear and demonstrable line of sight
between the business and HR/people agendas.
- Ability to engage and partner with managers and employees and
effectively influence senior management.
- Ability to establish immediate credibility with the business
Leaders enabling her/him to impact the business effectively.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, facilitation skills,
and the ability to deal with ambiguity in an environment with
- Naturally organized; very strong systems thinker and planner,
able to translate discussion and ideas into deliverables
- Evidence of ability to be "ahead of the curve" and agile in
anticipating and developing both strategic and tactical HR plans
and programs to accomplish the company's objectives
- First-class leadership skills
- Flexible, non-dogmatic, personable, strong will power to make
- Clear sense of accountability, personally feels committed to
growing the company value.
