Description:The role of the Purchasing / Materials Planning Associate is to provide support to the Purchasing Manager and the Materials Planning Department through the purchasing of goods, materials and services for the manufacture of our products.-Responsible for purchasing goods, materials and / or services to be utilized in the manufacturing of our products. Source quality items at a competitive cost.-Plan material usage in conjunction with work orders to maximize optimal production.-Communicate with Engineering and Plant Manger to accomplish production goals.-Identify, resolve, predict problems and present solutions for usage of inventory items.-Use Harris Data to understand materials inventory and react appropriately. -Submit requests for quotations.-Create purchase orders. -Record amendments and acknowledgements to purchase orders for items and services. -Expedite orders as needed.-Participate in new supplier development.-Process returned goods to our vendors as needed.-Interact with manufacturing on a daily basis.-Interact with vendors on a daily basis. -Other duties as assigned by the Manager / Supervisor.Skills:Planner, Erp, Purchasing, Inventory, Supply chain, Microsoft office, Erp system, Production planningTop Skills Details:- 1-3 years of experience within purchasing or planning- Knowledge of ERP systems- Experience interacting with vendors- Inventory control management experience- Experience from within a manufacturing environment - Experience from within the Sheet Metal industry is a PLUSAdditional Skills & Qualifications:-Knowledge of standard manufacturing and business tools, including Microsoft Word and Excel.-Knowledge of and competency in using ERP Software-Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written business correspondence.-Ability to learn quickly and independently.-Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments.-Ability to manage assigned tasks within scheduled commitments.-Strong problem-solving skills.-Strong math skills for writing of proposals-The employee is regularly required to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. -The employee is occasionally required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. when lifting parts and moving equipment. -The employee is required to travel overnight in some geographic locations or role tasks up tp 50% of the time.
