The Learning Services Coordinator, Quantitative Skills Support plays a pivotal role academic support for all quantitative coursework at the University of Baltimore, from foundational math to graduate statistics. This staff member will oversee operations of the Math & Statistics Center, including outcomes assessment and reporting results. The Coordinator will hire, train, and supervise student leaders; in consultation with faculty, directors, and deans, this position will design and develop programming and resources supporting quantitative skills development of target populations and courses. The coordinator will develop and present workshops and in-class presentations; determine student and faculty needs; and deliver or arrange delivery of presentations related to mathematics, statistics, and related software. The Coordinator will oversee the quantitative component of embedded tutor programming, provide ongoing professional development for student leaders, and develop outcomes assessment plans and metrics. This staff member will oversee data collection and analysis of programs as well as coordinate between various units within Academic Success, RLB Library, and the broader university community.

Job Functions

  • Develop, implement, and oversee The Math & Statistics Center. Assess outcomes and report results. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student leaders.
  • Design and develop programming and resources supporting quantitative skills development of specific populations, in consultation with faculty, directors, and deans.
  • Develop outcomes assessment and metrics; oversee data collection and analysis of programs; coordinate between various units within Academic Success.
  • Develop and present workshops and in-class presentations. Determine student and faculty needs; deliver or arrange delivery of presentations related to mathematics, statistics, and related software.
  • Oversee the quantitative component of embedded tutor program; coordinate with faculty and student staff; train and supervise embedded tutors; assess and report program outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing professional development for students and staff of student leaders.
  • Participate in additional initiatives as needed, such as Tutor Appreciation, RLB and compass committees, quantitative skills development initiatives.
  • Undertake professional development and research activities to build capacity and develop relationships with local, regional, and national organizations.
  • Work infrequent Saturdays and weekends.

Required Education: Master's in psychology, education, sociology, counseling, human development, or related discipline

Required Experience: Three years of progressively responsible experience delivering, developing, and coordinating programs that support student academic adjustment to higher education. Supervisory and assessment experience.

Preferred Experience: Tutoring experience, teaching experience, learning center experience; grant writing; experience with online delivery of content; familiarity with student development theory; experience building programs that promote self-efficacy and perseverance

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge and demonstrated experience working in position-related activities with first-generation students and a diverse student population. Knowledge of learning and human development theories and practical application; demonstrated excellence in teaching and/or training. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Familiarity with survey instruments and research models. Works with minimal supervision. Adapts procedures, processes, and techniques to meet new needs. Stays current with emerging technology and trends.
