If you join Ortho, no matter what your role, you will be expected to keep that Customer Excellence focus in your work.The OpportunityAs the Assay Development Specialist, you are responsible for providing technical and sales support to customers for Ortho Clinical Diagnostics products within the assigned Northeast geographic region, which includes New England and Mid-Atlantic territories. You will work remotely as a virtual resource and be the point person for assay (test menu) growth, by assisting customers with testing menu review and menu addition both during trial and validation of assays that are added to the customer's testing platforms after initial installation. Your role will enhance the sales efforts of the Laboratory Specialists and Customer Experience Managers and work in partnership to drive testing menu addition that brings new business to Ortho toward meeting company growth goals. In addition you will participate in re-training of customers, work with internal resources to resolve technical in a timely and complete manner, and ensure reporting complaints are directed to the appropriate Customer Support Center, providing all the required data and activities complying with Ortho complaint handling procedures. Candidates must live within either the New England or Mid-Atlantic territories and have the ability to support the customers within the assigned regions, which consists of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine for the New England territory and Eastern Pennsylvania, South New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and Eastern Virginia for the Mid-Atlantic territory.The Responsibilities Customer Retention: Maximize customer retention rates by ensuring customer satisfaction, executing pre-defined customer touchpoint/call plan, leading customer training, anticipating and defending against competitive threats, and leveraging strategic selling framework. Menu Expansion: Proactively work with CEM, LS, and Regional HSE to identify and close menu expansion opportunities. Consult and partner with CEM, Regional HSE, and customers to identify customer needs and sell and implement appropriate customer solution. Consultative Selling: Work with CEM, LS and field teams to align on and execute strategic plans that prioritize, retain, and expand current CL and TM accounts Product Implementation (Test of Record): Drive efficient implementation of new products through deep product knowledge and execution of optimal, standardized Ortho processes; crossed trained in CL, Automation and TM. Customer Support: Participate in troubleshooting and re-training to address customer issues, as necessary; work with internal Ortho resources and customer to ensure timely resolution of issues. Consulting and Troubleshooting: Optimize customer laboratory configuration and operation through proactive consulting and troubleshooting customer touchpoints. Reporting: Provide timely and accurate updates on lab activity, account updates, and other reports via CRM system; collaborate with Marketing to identify opportunities for equipment placement in CRM environmentKey Accountabilities: Works independently in an unstructured environment; self-directed, self-motivated, and flexible. Demonstrates Virtual Acuity and skills; ability to communicate, relate, and teach in a virtual environment Demonstrates solid product knowledge and skills on all Vitros products related to theory, techniques, processes, procedures, equipment, and materials necessary to do the job effectively. Certified for validation of Ortho Product. Understands and supports the OCD sales process and territory sales strategies Demonstrates strong presentation skills and ability to convey product knowledge at customer and sales related events Maintains Compliance in documentation for labor hours in Lotus notes and Sales reflecting their work for the field on a weekly basis Resolves conflicts, working with internal team members, in a timely manner that balances company and customer needs following the OCD complaint handling processKey Points of Interaction: Customer Experience Manager to create account strategy for assigned territory and augment sales growth initiatives. Health System Executive, Regional regarding any HSE-led IDN-related opportunities. Area Technical Specialist to escalate complex implementations and service issues. Commercial Operations to ensure timely and accurate forecasting and reporting, and support of enablement initiatives. Technical Excellence Manager to share and align on technical best practice, standards, and operational efficiency opportunities. Implementation Project Managers To ensure customer readiness for implementation Field Service Engineers to support customer experience Works with and supports Ortho customers surrounding the Ortho Vitros products and demands. Work with Distribution Vendors that sell the Ortho products via partnerships and agreementsThe Individual Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology Clinical Background: Minimum of 2 years related experience in a clinical laboratory or equivalent experience working as either a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist Industry/Domain Knowledge: Solid Clinical Chemistry market knowledge for the purpose of understanding market forces impacting the business.
