Sales Tax Accountant

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for accurate and timely preparation and completion of business licenses and sales tax returns. This involves the preparation of tax workpapers and the preparation of tax returns using tax software. Additional responsibilities include reconciliations of general ledger tax accounts and involvement in tax audits.


Essential Functions:

  • Accurately prepare and timely file business license applications and renewals
  • Create/revise efficiencies to improve the business license process
  • Responds to and resolves OpCo (e.g. internal company) inquiries
  • Responds to and resolves tax jurisdiction notices and/or inquiries
  • Work with OPCO partners to provide business license documentation when needed
  • As needed, accurately prepare and timely file sales and use tax.
  • Assists Senior Tax Accountant with audits, as needed
  • Complete the assigned annual Goals
  • Ability to research technical tax issues and document conclusions
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, and document conclusions
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance


  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word
  • PeopleSoft knowledge a plus
  • Must be detail oriented, organized and a quick learner
