Educate the community about the Safe Streets Program and the many resources the program provides, which will ultimately help to change the thinking and behavioral norms of the community residents, as well as high risk and key individuals. The Safe Streets Ambassador will help expand the Safe Streets Program and build better rapport with the communities by educating them of the Program's presence, mission, and goal to help reduce shootings, homicides, and change the behavioral norms.


  • Identify and detect potential shootings events, individuals and groups at high risk of a shooting or killing
  • Formulate a plan of action to spread the Safe Streets message and public education information into the target/surrounding communities
  • Meet and build rapport with the community residents, high risk and key individuals daily
  • Inform and train individuals and groups on specific strategies to bring about behavioral change
  • Keep daily log documenting all efforts and work done on daily basis
  • Attend daily briefings and debriefings
  • Safe Streets Ambassadors are expected to attend weekly supervisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • High School Diploma or GED


  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Excellent knowledge of case management and crisis intervention services.
  • Service-oriented and able to resolve customer/client concerns and grievances
  • Ability to work with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Ability to utilize, or willingness to learn computer systems and software, necessary to perform position functions (basic computer, web browsing, online training, and email usage skills)


  • Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and to observe and communicate with members of the community
  • If driving on Agency business, must be at least 21 years of age and have valid driver's license issued by the state of residence, with no more than 3 points
