Assistant General Counsel

The Assistant General Counsel will provide legal advice and
guidance regarding a wide range of complex business matters,
providing high quality, business focused legal support directly to
a national business.
This position provides direction and leadership to management
teams to assist in the development and growth of business
consistent with overall company strategy and directive.
Our preference is for this person to reside in the Hampton Roads
area as our corporate offices are in Newport News, VA. However, we
are open to a hybrid or remote work setup for the ideal
Provide legal analysis and support for various commercial
transactions, including structuring, drafting, reviewing, and
negotiating agreements and working with the business to establish
optimal standard contract terms.
Assist in the establishment, implementation, and communication
of formal policies, processes and procedures with respect to
contract lifecycle management.
Stay abreast of applicable legal developments, legislation and
regulations that impact activities and perform industry research on
legal matters related to the specific products and suppliers.
Coordinate with legal/risk management counsel in litigation
matters and advise business owners in strategy and settlement
Collaborate with internal legal experts to ensure applicability
and sufficiency of existing practices (e.g. Compliance, GDPR,
Employment, etc.) and assist with training activities relating to
Identify issues and provide advice and counsel regarding
antitrust / competition law, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act,
environmental, regulatory and other compliance considerations as
they may impact sourcing activity.
Provide the business groups with outstanding internal customer
- Willingness to assume additional responsibilities as
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school; Admitted to
practice and in good standing with at least one U.S. State Bar.
Minimum 4+ years of post-admission legal experience in a law
firm and/or in-house counsel.
Experience in domestic contract drafting and negotiation,
including experience and familiarity with the Uniform Commercial
Code (UCC) and U.N. Convention on Contracts for the International
Sale of Goods.
Demonstrated ability to resolve legal issues quickly and
Ability to work collaboratively with peers and internal clients
across a global organization as well as independently (including
Solid business judgment, including the ability to anticipate and
analyze impact and consequences of decisions/initiatives and
