Job Description:

Overview:the Senior Research Coordinator will work with the Center for Autism & Related Disorders (CARD) director and Research Manager to oversee the design and development of all databases for the Research and Education for Autism in Children (REACH) research projects. This position will hire and supervise all data entry staff, and assure that all projects comply with Institutional Review Board (IRB) regulations and research protocols. The Senior Research Coordinator will participate in conceptualizing data reduction and presentation strategies to summarize research trends. This staff member will provide research support to investigators within CARD; serve as the point of contact for research coordinators from sites collaborating with the Principal Investigator (PI) from outside and within the Institute. The incumbent will assist in the preparation of manuscripts and progress reports for the PI; assist in preparation of National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other funding agency reports; structure data for submission; and submit data to shared databases.Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operation of Research and Education for Autism in Children (REACH) databases, including the creation and maintenance of all data entry tables and forms, autoscore programs, electronic data tracking systems and reports, creating and delivering data pulls for analysis.
  • Coordinate Institutional Review Board (IRB) research protocols for all projects conducted in the REACH laboratory, including preparation and submission of new proposals, protocol amendments, and annual renewals.
  • Conduct the hiring, orientation, and supervision for data entry staff working in the research laboratory.
  • Coordinate research team meetings with the Research Manager. Develop systems for maintaining and executing a reciprocal flow of information between REACH clinical and data staff.
  • Provide database and research support to REACH research coordinators, including training research assistants working on individual projects.
  • Coordinate database development and data submissions activities with coordinators from sites outside of and within Kennedy Krieger collaborating with CARD PIs.
  • Assist with subject recruitment by coordinating with staff who maintain the Creating Advances in Autism Research through Engagement (CAARE) database.
  • Assist with data reduction, data analyses, and data-related sections of manuscript/grant preparations by developing content for Methods and Results sections according to specified American Psychological Association (APA), American Medical Association (AMA) requirements. Create graphics and tables for use in such manuscript and grant submissions and presentations.
  • Coordinate with statisticians and appropriate staff in order to ensure appropriate statistical analysis of data.
  • Responsible for maintenance of lab facilities and equipment, including making recommendations for acquisition of new or the upgrade of, existing equipment.Qualifications:EDUCATION:
    • MA/MS in health sciences related field including a research emphasis required.
    • Coursework in statistics and human subjects' research preferred.EXPERIENCE:
      • Must have a minimum two years related experience.
      • Must have supervisory/management experience.
      • Must have experience with statistical analysis using a variety of statistical packages.
      • Must have experience creating relationship databases.
      • Must have experience in maintaining data security of health-related data.
      • Must have experience with implementing research protocols.
      • Must have experience conducting literature searches, plan research projects and experiments.
      • Must have experience with Institutional Review Boards.
