What we are:
The R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center's Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber (HBO), a division of Respiratory Care Services, is internationally recognized for its clinical applications of hyperbaric therapy. The chamber and staff, supports patient treatment modalities of gas/air embolisms, carbon monoxide poisoning, radiation tissue damage, and wound healing for both critical care inpatients as well as therapeutic treatments for outpatients. Within the HBO division, the supervisor will provide exceptional support to the department and staff, caring for specific inpatient and outpatient populations in a multidisciplinary setting.

What you will do:
As a supervisor and safety officer, you will be working alongside the dynamic teams of board certified emergency medicine physicians, registered nurses, and respiratory therapists. Utilizing best practices, you will be responsible for assisting the manager with the day to day operations, chamber safety, patient care and satisfaction, and collaborating with our patient care service lines while employing your respiratory and clinical skills. You will educate patients regarding their treatments, and coordinate staff department educational training. You will partner with nursing units and service lines to coordinate patient care across the medical center, enhancing the patient's overall experience. In addition to your clinical and supervisory duties, you will have a close relationship with the UM facilities and safety department liaisons.

    What You Need to Be Successful:

    Associate's degree required, bachelor's degree preferred. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required. Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Board of Maryland Physician Quality Assurance is required. The HBO Respiratory Therapist supervisor shall have 3 years progressively professional experience as a Respiratory Therapist or equivalent. Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) preferred, however, CHT is required after one year of service. Outpatient setting and ACLS certification preferred. Two years' experience in a multiplace hyperbaric environment preferred. The supervisor candidate will need to possess excellent people skills, ability to coordinate patient flow in a dynamic outpatient care setting, strong leadership
