Job Summary:
The Admission & Registration Supervisor primary functions are
responsible for supervising, training, and motivating team members.
Trains
and coaches the Admitting staff; monitors activity for quality and
productivity; analyzes, develops and produces agent feedback
and
management reports; conducts quality audits; coordinates the
development of and reviews and implements departmental registration
and
admission protocols. Responsible for serving in the Supervisory
role as a group/team mentor and resource liaison. Ensures
sufficient staffing
levels for twenty-four/seven operations.
Duties include but not limited to supervising complex multi-payer
insurance verification and benefits eligibility procedures for
multiple
specialty areas across several JHH entities, daily census
validation to assure accurate reporting of census data for and to
the NDMD
(National Disaster Management drills) and the HSCRC (Heath Services
Cost Review Commission) supervising of the bed management to
assure all admissions processes and procedures are adhered to. The
Supervisor must be highly proficient with insurance
verification/benefits eligibility and when necessary, obtain and
complete documentation for pre-certification and
referral/authorizations, and
assess patient financial liability. This position requires a clear
understanding of the revenue cycle and professional competence in
reviewing
and securing all appropriate financial resources for patients to
maximize reimbursement to the Health System. Monitors daily time of
service
payments are reconciled and deposited timely.
Education:
A. A. degree or 7 years of relevant work experience required
Licensure/Certifications:
Successful completion of Organizational and Development Supervisor
Cohort program and all
related competency assessments. Certification in various computer
systems as necessary
Experience:
Seven (7) years of relevant work experience in a medical office,
hospital, medical call center or
similar
Knowledge/Skills:
Effectively maintains leadership in a group environment and
promotes cooperation and
teamwork. Demonstrates strong grammar and spelling skills. Uses
clear and concise language.
Requires excellent verbal communications, telephone manner,
interviewing and interpersonal
skills to interact with patients, families, members of the health
care team and external agencies.
Ability to demonstrate and convey a favorable image of the
organization and to conform to
proper standards of professional dress, attitude, and demeanor.
Requires analytical skills to
perform calculations for financial work up and deductibles.
Requires proficiency in PC usage
and keyboard. Ability to perform with accuracy and attention to
detail. Excellent time
management skills. Excellent customer service orientation. Ability
to manage multiple work
priorities.
Primary functions generally require seven years of experience in a
health care setting involving
customer service to become knowledgeable in practices involved in
patient admissions and
account management and/or coordination of services related to
insurance verification, bed
management, patient information and transport. Comprehensive
understanding of medical and
insurance terminology. Technical competence and demonstrated
proficiency with medical
insurance plans, billing regulations and managed care plans,
applicable to inpatient care.
Familiar with multiple payer's insurance verification and
pre-certification guidelines.
Requires basic working knowledge of payer's billing and collection
practices.
Able to obtain payer specific details, as necessary, to ensure
accurate coordination of benefits.
Secondary functions require knowledge of basic mortuary science and
communications
principles normally acquired through two years of post-secondary
education or 7 years of
relevant work experience.
