Job Description:
What you will doWe're keeping the Navy cool. Literally. Our team
at the Grantley Plant custom designs, develops and manufactures
complex chilled water HVAC and refrigeration equipment for Navy
vessels around the world. The job consists of performing duties
required to plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, fit, braze tubing,
thread, weld complex piping, system components and weld coded, and
noncoded pressure vessel assemblies and subassemblies, working with
ferrous, nonferrous metals, using conventional or automatic
submerged arc welding and difficult positions of stick, tig, and
manual arc welding of Navy equipment.Location: Grantley Plant in
York, PAShift: 2nd shift (3:00pm - 11:30pm)Pay: Starting rate of
pay is $28.64 plus .70 shift differential for 2nd shift.Benefits:
Eligible for benefits on first day of employmentHow you will do
it1. Working with isometric drawings, digital 3-D models,
operational method sheets, welding symbols, and code
specifications.2. Work on floor, guarded platform, ladders or at
welding table.3. Perform floor erection or fixture assembly of
pressure vessels and subassemblies.4. Weld in all positions.5. Lay
out from center lines or create own layouts as required to locate
and fabricate all internal, external part details, angular, radial,
longitudinal relationships.6. Preparing material for welding by
cleaning, bead blasting, and or grinding.7. Weld parts per drawing
details; including internal and external components, such as heads,
lugs, brackets, baffles, piping, valves, fittings, oil coolers,
water boxes, covers, make all connections.8. Clean and dress welds
to Navy Welding Standards.9. Perform carbon arc or plasma arc
gouging.10. Repair welding on defective materials and parts.11.
Maintaining a clean and safe working area. What we look
forRequired:1. Applicant must pass a Navy Military Code Standard 2"
diameter pipe test with a backing ring in the 6G position using
E7018 filler material in order to be hired.2. High school diploma
or general education degree (GED).3. Minimum of (3) or more years
welding experience; using SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW in all positions4.
Ability to use a tape measure, levels, laser levels, combination
square set, fixtures, hand tools, pneumatic air tools, guarded
platforms, ladders, and any other appropriate welding and material
handling equipment.5. Ability to use basic mathematics, work from
prints, sketches, written/verbal instruction, and operational
method sheets.6. Ability to perform continuous physical work
including moving heavy weight materials, handling chain falls,
structural shapes, and work in strenuous positions.7. Ability to
work safely at all times. Constant care is necessary to prevent
injury.8. U.S. citizen.9. In order to meet the increasing demands
of our customers and comply with the Federal orders, we will
require all new hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a
condition of employment and submit proof in our Johnson Controls
Vaccination Tracker upon hire.Preferred:1. Technical or Vocational
Welding Schooling, or equivalent welding experience.2. Experience
welding while adhering to code standards.3. Rigging and overhead
crane operation experience.4. Knowledge of Military Code
Requirements.5. Experience welding exotic materials.6. Ability to
use Weld Gauges including Fillet Gauges and V-Wac Gauges.Who we are
