Restore-L Deputy Spacecraft Systems Engineer (Job Number:440916)Description: JOB DESCRIPTION:SAIC is seeking a senior-level Spacecraft Systems Engineer on the NASA OMES II contract in support of the Restore-L program at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The Restore-L mission is a Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Satellite Servicing Project Division (SSPD) managed mission. Restore-L is a robotic servicing mission designed to refuel a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite. It contains 3 elements: the Flight Element comprised of the Restore-L Servicing Vehicle (RSV) and development testbeds, the Ground Element comprised of the systems required to conduct RSV operations and the supporting networks and facilities, and the Launch Element comprised of the Launch Vehicle and supporting facilities and services. The SSPD is responsible for the design, engineering, development, test and operations of the Restore-L Mission through an integrated team at GSFC. Servicing Payload design and development and RSV integration will be conducted at GSFC. Mission operations will be conducted by a Mission Operations Engineering Team comprised of ground system engineers and flight engineers from a Restore Mission Operations Center (RMOC) at GSFC.As the Restore-L Deputy Spacecraft Systems Engineer, the candidate shall be responsible for:- Analyzing mission objectives to determine spacecraft system requirements- Monitor and guide the design, implementation, and verification of the space vehicle system- Developing Spacecraft CONOPS- Performing trade analyses- Allocating and defining subsystem requirements- Tracking Technical Performance Metrics for subsystems- Creating and maintaining critical budgets (i.e. mass, power, propulsion)- Assist in creating launch vehicle, payload, and ground interface control documents- Creating and reviewing materials for design and readiness reviews- Lead and participate in conceptual and preliminary design studies- Tracking requirements verification and validation- Interface with Spacecraft vendor, subsystem engineers, manufacturing and test personnel, and program managementQualifications: TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:- Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:- Clearance Level Must Currently Possess: None- Clearance Level To Obtain: Other ClearanceREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:The candidate shall have a strong technical base in the following areas:- Knowledge of systems engineering, space vehicle design and analysis- Experience conducting various lifecycle reviews including, design reviews, requirement reviews, integration reviews, as well as trade studies- Knowledge of system engineering tools and processes- Experience with space system mission operations for LEO spacecraft- Direct, relevant experience and familiarization with NASA system architecture and organizational structures- Demonstrated strong leadership qualities- Possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team- Ability to assess complex problems and propose practical solutions- Possess high organizational capabilities and excellent verbal and written communication skills- NASA Goddard Space Flight Center mission experience a plus- Candidate should have a Bachelors and 9 years or more experience; Masters and 7 years or more experience; PhD and 4 years more or experienceSAIC Overview:SAIC is a premier technology integrator providing full life cycle services and solutions in the technical, engineering, intelligence, and enterprise information technology markets.
