Some responsibilities include:Administers and accurately records the administration of medications for Assisted Living (AL) residents as prescribed by the physician in accordance with established policies and procedures of NLCS and applicable state/federal regulationsDetermines and records effectiveness of medications in a timely and accurate manner as required by state and federal regulationsObserves, records and reports to the Charge Nurse symptoms and conditions of AL residents that could be related to medication interactions, adverse drug reactions or medication side effectsMonitors medications to ensure adequate accountability measures are taken when medications are ordered, received into the facility, administered and at change of shift as required by policies and procedures of NLCS and applicable state/federal regulationsStores medications in a safe and accurate manner in accordance with established policies and procedures of NLCS and applicable state/federal regulationsRoutinely inspects, cleans and monitors equipment and supplies to ensure resident safety. Reports any equipment or supply issues to the Charge Nurse for correction or repairConducts walking rounds and med cart counts with previous and oncoming shifts; gives and participates in reportObtains, records and reports vital signs as indicated during the administration of medicationsEncourages AL resident's highest level of functioning, allowing and encouraging them to participate in self-care and providing cues and assistance as needed. Gives general care to residents to include:Bathes residents; gives showers, and bed bathsProvides mouth care, brushing teeth or applying denturesAssists with dressing residents; assures residents are appropriately and comfortably clothedGives personal care to include hair care, beauty care, shaves male residents, cleans and trims nailsMakes beds, washes bed linen, and sets rooms in orderCares for glasses, dentures, beds and other equipment used in the care of residentsWashes resident's personal laundryUnder direction, assists with and/or performs procedures that have been assigned and with supervisionto include:Taking and recording vital signs, measuring and recording intake and output;Collecting specimens;Giving care to residents in casts;Giving enemas,Orients new residents to environment, room, roommate, staff and routine;Weighing and measuring residents and recording results;Documenting on voiding daily BM's and food Assists residents to and from the bathroom, offers bedpans and participates in keeping incontinent residents clean at all times. Changes linens as often as necessary. Assists in bowel and bladder training programParticipates in transferring residents from bed/chair using good body mechanics. Obtains assistance for all two person assist lift transfersParticipates in resident meals, providing assistance and care throughout the meal as needed including: setting dining room, assisting with menu selection, supervising and assisting during dining, assisting in personal care after mealsAssists residents at nap and bedtime. Turns and positions residents as neededPerforms personal services for residents to promote comfort, safety and rehabilitation Responds promptly to residents for assistanceObserves residents refusal of care, mood, reaction, appetite, etc., and reports findings to supervisor immediately. Reports any injuries to residents immediately. Completes Incident ReportApplies standard precautions in all resident care. Follows isolation procedures when indicatedParticipates in the orientation of new or temporary staff to the AL department to assure continuity in the delivery of resident careSupports, maintains and assists with projects related to the Connected Living Programs of the community.Promotes and encourages social interactions from residents during meals, during direct care and at other times as appropriateParticipates in unit cleaning duties, as directedHigh School diploma or equivalent requiredCertification as Certified Nursing Assistant, and Certified Medication Technician approved by the Board of Nursing in state of employmentPossess knowledge of safe medication administration techniques Experience in a Senior Care setting preferredAbility to follow written and oral instructionsAbility to communicate and work with persons of varying educational and cultural backgrounds
