Project EngineerIntertek is searching for a Project Engineer -to join our Building & Constructionteam in our York, PA -office. - This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Building Science Solutions.The Project Engineer should have -an extensive and solid background and interest in building enclosure consulting for new design, construction and/or diagnosis of existing building enclosures. They should also have an interest in leading project teams, developing a client base, building the local BSS team, and contributing technically to our overall, international, BSS team. What you'll do:Perform business development activities, building business and clients in the regional area and assisting with national, larger pursuits outside of the local area.Establish and grow the local BSS office by balancing staff workloads and bringing in new work such that staff are adequately utilizedHire, train, and manage new building sciences team members.Provide new design consulting and peer reviews of plans and specifications for building enclosuresPerform review of architectural drawings, shop drawings and submittals pertaining to the building -enclosurePerform field performance testing and water leakage testing of roofing and waterproofing systems, windows, curtain walls, and other building elements.Provide construction administration services, including mock-up testing and shop drawing reviews, and conduct factory inspections and site visits.Perform forensic investigations, documentation of existing conditions including wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing and below grade elements. Provide remediation design of building enclosures.Assisting in meeting profit center financial goals.Provide support as the primary client contact for projects and develop client relationshipsPrepare professionally written technical reports for design and construction phase servicesLitigation support for projects involving all of the issues discussed aboveDevelop the scope of services and prepare proposalsAssemble and manage project teams Provide on-the-job training and mentoring Participation in professional organizations, author papers, attend conferences, and/or perform work on technical committeesContribute positively to team moraleContribute to the servant leadership model - - - - - - - - - -What it takes to be successful in this role:Bachelor's Degree in -Engineering -preferred2-5 years of industry experience, preferredProfessional -registration or ability obtain registration within three years , preferredTechnical knowledge of building constructionTechnical knowledge and understanding of building enclosure systemsExperience in managing a range of small to large projectsOffice and personnel management experienceAbility to successfully perform business development activities, and establish building sciences services in the regional areaAbility to read and understand architectural drawings and specificationsAbility to perform office tasks and physical labor tasksAbility to perform work from ladders, boom-lifts, scaffolds, roofs, etc.Ability to efficiently work on projects independently and in a team environmentExcellent organizational and project management skillsDemonstrated ability to meet deadlinesStrong technical writing and communication skillsAbility to nurture client relationshipsConsistent and professional interaction and communication with clients and project teamActive in professional organization(s)Ability to travel outside local area, depending on local work load and project locationsValid driver's license and reliable driving record (required)Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screeningParticipation/leadership in national associations is a plus -Why work at Intertek?Intertek is a world leader in the $250 billion Quality Assurance market, with a proven, high-quality business model and a global network of customer-focused operations and highly engaged subject matter experts.
