Position Summary:Under supervision of the Central Sterile Manager, the Endoscopy Technician assembles, sets up and monitors necessary equipment and routine/emergency endoscopic procedures.Essential Functions:Cleans and reprocesses endoscopes used in procedures such as colonoscopy, EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy), ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography), PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy), Bronchoscopy.Tasks:May deliver specimens to the laboratory or pathology department. Ensures procedure rooms and carts are stocked on a daily basis. Demonstrates basic knowledge of normal and pathological anatomy and physiology and of surgical equipment; understands and applies sterile technique. Responsible for organizing, care and transfer of supplies to the operative field; assists in creating and maintaining a clean operative field and performs accordingly when a break in technique occurs. Remains consistently aware of the status and progress of the procedure and responds appropriately in urgent and/or emergency situations.Qualifications/Requirements:Entry level knowledge; basic employment skills; High School diploma: GED equivalent or High School certificate.Education/Knowledge:Experience: 1-3 yearsCertifications, Licenses, Registrations:American Heart Association CPR CertificationCFER from IAHCSMM or CBSPD req within 18 months of hireCNA/GNA preferredCompletion of SGNA Assocs Pgrm or CRCST CSPDT CER
